GHoST

Ghost Hunters of Startling Truth

Membership Rules and Code of Conduct

1.  You must thoroughly read through all the rules and agree to them.

2.  You must be 18 years of age or older in order to join - no exceptions.

3.  You may request any position in the team you feel qualified for, but if that position is already filled by too many people or we deny you, you are expected to understand our decision.

4.  No experience is needed, but is preferred.  If you have no prior experience, the lead investigators will be happy to train you.

5.  Team members are expected to have an open mind and, although we go into investigations skeptically, you must be aware and respectful of other people's beliefs.  Rude and impolite behavior will not be tolerated.

6.  You must be committed to this team and participate regularly, this means showing up to any meetings we may hold, as well as making most investigations that are planned.

7.  No one will be discriminated against for any reason, including but not limited to: race, sex, sexual orientation, or religion.

8.  Your full name will be up on our website if you are accepted into the team.  If you agree to join, we will display your name in the Team Members area.  Any personal information, such as addresses, phone numbers, etc. will, however, remain confidential.

9.   The founders of GHoST uphold the right to terminate the positions of any members at any time, with or without reason.

10.   We require to meet any potential new members before they are accepted into our team.  After your application is reviewed and we decide to follow that up with a meeting, we will inform you of this and schedule a date and time to meet in person so that we may get to know you better before making the judgement whether or not you will be accepted as a team member.  We will then get back to you at a later time after we've had time to discuss it to inform you if you have been accepted or not.

11.   New members that are accepted into the team go into a probation period, where you're character and abilities will be observed for the length of 3 investigations.  After this period in which 3 investigations have taken place, and the lead investigators decide that you are suited for GHoST, you will then become an official team member and your position will be secured.

12.   Though we will not turn down members who claim to be a psychic or a medium, we will not rely on whatever abilities they may have, not that we do not believe they are valid, but because their process and results cannot be scientifically verified.  Our team oporates by the use of equipment alone.

13.  GHoST members cannot bring guests with them on investigations unless permission is given by either founder beforehand.  When allowed, guests are expected to uphold our rules and agree to them.  If they do not, they will not be allowed to join us.  Guests cannot be a regular occurence.

14.   All members are required to join and participate in our forums.  This promotes discussion on the paranormal field itself, as well as inter-group communication.  Being part of the forums is important, as it is used for sharing information, case discussion, and event scheduling.

15.  GHoST members are to represent their team in an appropriate manor.  This means, if you are part of a message board community for example, and are displaying our name, logo, or discussing our team, we expect the utmost professionalism from you, as you are being the spokesperson for our team.  This goes for all forms of representation.

16. After members pass the probation period (following the initial 3 investigations), they are expected to pay a monthly due of $10.  This is to help raise money for the much needed equipment for the GHoST team.  100% of all funds raised will be put toward, firstly, equipment we are still lacking, and secondly for extra equipment for members that do not own those items to use during investigations.  Afterwards, these continuous payments will be used for items such as batteries, CDs, tapes, and whatever else the team may need.  This money will be placed into a savings account to therefore earn interest as well to help aid our funding.  These monthly dues are nonrefundable.

Rules While Investigating

1.  Remain calm.  Do not allow yourself to panic during any situation.  If you feel a situation extend beyond your comfort zone, then leave the premises in a calm and brisk manor.  Different people have different levels of how far they are able to go during ghost hunts.  It is always good to push yourself further each time, for the sake of the investigation.

2.  Every situation demands professionalism, and as such, any immature behavior will result in penalties, first of which will be your exclusion from the current investigation.  If your inappropriate behavior continues, you will be banned from GHoST for a certain amount of time, after which, you will be given one more chance.  If said behavior continues, you will be kicked from GHoST permanently.  If the group as whole believes you are not suited for ghost hunting, they all may take a vote which will decide your fate in GHoST.  If the majority believes you should no longer be a member, you will automatically be kicked from the team.

3.  Do not talk constantly, and remain on topic.  This is not a social event and it is not the appropriate time to discuss anything other than the current investigation.  Also, don’t be chatty, as the EVP specialist will be attempting to record spirit voices, and any unnecessary chatter will disrupt the investigation.  In addition, do not to whisper, as whispers can later be mistaken for an EVP.

4.  Choose a buddy before an investigation.  Never ghost hunt alone.  You must have a buddy always with you.  This buddy system is to insure the safety of everyone as well as to help verify anything you may experience.  Never leave your buddy.

5.  No smoking.  While on an investigation, smoke hinders evidence as it interferes with photographs and video recordings.  It is also polite to wait to smoke afterward if you must.

6.  Respect personal and private property.

7.  Respect and follow the group leaders.

8.  Profanity is frowned upon while ghost hunting.  You are a proud member of GHoST and are representing them while out in public.  Mind what you say.  This should go without saying, as professionalism is top priority.  However, it is good to remember that anything said or done is being monitored and recorded.

9.  Any false or fabricated evidence you produce will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate termination from GHoST itself.

10.  No drugs or alcohol of any kind prior or during a ghost hunt.

11.  If you are hurt or injured, call for help immediately.  If it is serious, we will abandon the investigation and take necessary action.

12.  Be sure to dress appropriately.  This includes wearing clothing that suits the weather and that is also proper for an investigation.  Comfort before fashion.

14.  If we are working for a client, any evidence collected while on an investigation must not be shared by any means with that client until after all the evidence is evaluated carefully at a later time.  This is to be sure that we are not sharing false evidence that can be disproved or debunked.  Even if you believe what you have is solid, never go over any evidence until a formal sit-down with the client.

15.  Any equipment you borrow from any GHoST members must be returned immediately after an investigation unless stated otherwise.
