Ghost Hunters of Startling Truth

2005-2006 EVP Recordings

Below are past recordings captured at various locations.  Each recording may be interpreted differently, and, so as not to give the listener any preconceived ideas of what we believe is being said, they are simply labeled as numbers.  Following the recording however, in each description, is what we think is being said in the EVP.

What do those letters mean?  Be sure to read the EVP Classifications section to clarify first.

This EVP was my first ever that I captured on January 1st of 2005 in a small cemetery not far from my old house.  My high school friend, Estefany, and I decided to try recording, despite that it was pouring down rain that night.  We stayed in my car and pulled up in front of the small entrance to the cemetery where the gate was closed and held the voice recorder near the slightly open window.  To our shock and surprise, we heard something, just after, coincidently, I mentioned I thought I heard a whisper.  Immediately after I asked when they died, there is a faint yet undeniable whisper of a woman, whom I think asks, "I died?"

This recording plays the same whisper twice, the first being the original recording, and the second being an attempt to clean it up to hear what is being said better.  This was also recorded on the same night at the previous one was.  I believe it is the same woman speaking to us, though it's a little unclear what she's saying.  Before this was recorded, my friend Estefany had said, "Maybe we can help you."  To me, it sounds as if the voice in this EVP is saying, "Maybe later."

This EVP is played here three separate times, the first being the original, the second being cleaned up, and the third slowed down.  This was recorded in a secluded cemetery near my old friend Estefany's farm house.  Before this was capture, Estefany asked, "Can you tell us something about your life?"  I believe what is being said in this recording, is "That'd be funny they'd want to hear that."

This recording plays twice, the first being the original, and the second one being filtered.  It was a summer evening, and so there were many bugs as you'll clearly hear.  It was recorded in an extremely small and odd cemetery, which was basically in the backyards of a couple of people's homes, and only housed 10 or so headstones, yet, apparently, hundreds of people were buried there.  I set my recorder down and you can hear us speaking off in the background, but we are interrupted by what sounds like a girl who is speaking very closely to the microphone.  I think it's quite obvious that she is saying, "We know what happened!  We know what happened!"  This is one of the clearest EVP I have ever captured and is quite exciting.

This was actually recorded on my friend Kristin's digital camera while ghost hunting in Black Hawk park one night.  She has gone on numerous ghost hunts there and is considered to be very sensitive to the spirit realm.  Given what is possibly being said in this EVP, the ghosts are getting to know her.  I think that this is a girl saying "Kristin."

The first time this is played is the original, and the second has had the background noise filtered out.  This was recorded in the same small cemetery as #4 was.  In this recording, you will hear one of the investigators ask, "Would you like us to leave?"  Almost overlapping his question, you can hear  a woman.  I think it's clear she says, "Help."

This was recorded at Black Hawk State Park.  A group of four of us were out that night, including my friend Kristin.  It sounds like a girl asks, "Kristin, help."

This was recorded while in Black Hawk Park while we were examining a fallen tree.  There was something interesting on it which looked like animal fur, but turned out to be moss.  Someone had asked what it was, and we got this response.  I think they say, "It's a tree."

The first recording is the original, and the second is the filtered version.  This was recorded in September of '05 in Black Hawk State Park.  While exploring, my camera was running low on batteries, and I had said aloud, "I hope my camera has one last picture left in it.  Come on, come on, take it."  Just after I said that, this was recorded.  It sounds, to me, like a woman whispering, "Stop," as if she didn't want me taking any pictures.

This EVP, like the one above it, was recorded in Black Hawk Park in September.  I had commented how we had never been able to record any men so far and how I thought that that was a little odd.  Shortly after, we caught this EVP of what sounds to me like a man laughing.  What's odd is, Kristin, my friend who was with me at the time, had thought she heard laughing.  Also, there were no males with us during this ghost hunt.

The first time this is played, it is the original, and the second time has had some of the background noise filtered out.  This was recorded in Greenwood Cemetery Muscatine, Iowa on May 21st of 2006.  That cemetery is surrounded in stories, so we decided to investigate.   We were just about to leave though and then this was recorded.  It sounds like someone is either saying, "Can't stop," or "Make it stop."
